What’s the Diff Between ARMINIANISM and CALVINISM?
Generally speaking, Arminianism is pro-freewill whereas Calvinism supports determinism and therefore opposes freewill. Personally, while I’ll humbly consider arguments from either perspective, all that’s relevant is what the truth is; that is, what God’s Word clearly and consistently teaches based on the foundation of sound hermeneutics. Now consider this enlightening verse: This day I call […]
What Are the APOCRYPHA and PSEUDEPIGRAPHA?
The books contained in the apocrypha (ah-POK-rah-fah) & pseudepigrapha (soo-doh-PIG-rah-fah) are noncanonical writings from the intertestamental period, or “400 silent years,” between the Old and New Testaments; and up to 300-400 AD. ‘Apocrypha’ means “hidden away” while ‘pseudepigrapha’ means “false writings,” mostly because the claimed author of the text is not the actual author. Some of what these books say […]
How to Discern OPINION and FACT in Theology
‘Theology’ means the study of God. In Christian theology, how do we distinguish what’s true and what’s not true concerning anything related to God and the things of God, including Church doctrine and practice? Is it “all just opinion,” as I heard someone argue? Absolutely not. Notice what the Bible says: 16All Scripture is God-breathed […]
What Is the “Eliphaz Syndrome”?
The “Eliphaz Syndrome” is the tendency to formulate vital doctrine based on visions/experiences rather than the rightly-divided Word of God. If you’re not familiar with Eliphaz (el-ee-FAZ), he was one of Job’s three “friends” whom the LORD accused of folly in what they said to their suffering friend (Job 42:7-8). Eliphaz was the one […]
What Is KJV ONLY? What’s Wrong With It?
Christians who are “KJV Only” are people who view the King James Version of the Bible as the only legitimate English translation. It should be stressed that KJV Only people can live and die as genuine believers, loved of the Lord. The principle of Romans 14:3 applies here so we need to be careful not […]

What Did Paul Mean by “According to the Scriptures”?
Speaking of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, Paul made this statement by the Holy Spirit: For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 What Scriptures was Paul referring […]
OFFICIAL Prophets (Ministers) and INDEPENDENT Prophets (Ministers)
Both types are good and necessary but — as with anything — each can be corrupted. When corruption enters the picture, abuse is always nearby (abuse is the misuse of power).
Hermeneutics — Proper Bible Interpretation
Hermeneutics refers to the science of scriptural interpretation. Simply put, there’s a right way to interpret the Bible and a wrong way.

BEREAN SPIRIT — What Is It? How Do You Cultivate It?
Jesus called God’s Word “truth,” which means ultimate reality. He said that this truth will set us free if we continue in it and know it. This is awesome, but too often we hear totally contradicting teachings from ministers who claim that their teachings are supported by the Bible, God’s Word. How can we know beyond any shadow of doubt who’s right, who’s wrong, who’s partially right or wrong, and what to believe, and what to reject? Cultivating the “Berean Spirit” is the answer.
